EPSCoR & IDeA News Established Program for Stimulating Competitive Research (EPSCoR) and Institutional Development Award (IDeA), including federal funding opportunities and more! EPSCoR is a program serving states such as Kentucky, to build capacity for federally funded scientific research.

Ky- INBRE Recent News  KY IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence supports biomedical researchers and educators within the Commonwealth. The purpose of the network is to develop infrastructure and capacity for biomedical research and training in the state. KAS seeks candidates for Governing Board
The Kentucky Academy of Science is seeking candidates for the KAS Governing Board. New terms begin January 1, 2025. The ballot will go to all KAS members at the end of September, and we plan to introduce new board members at the Annual Meeting November 1&2. Open positions include:

  • Vice President (this is s 4-year term, succeeding to President-Elect, President, and Past President)
  • Secretary (3 year term)
  • Physical Science Representative (4 year term)
  • Social Science Representative (4 year term)
  • At-Large Representative (4 year term)

What do board members do? Board members oversee the budget and the Executive Director, and set the strategy and mission of KAS Meetings are quarterly, mostly by zoom. All board members are expected to serve on one of our Committees. Find out more in the KAS Bylaws

KAS Science Policy opportunities at the Annual Meeting

Science Policy enthusiasts--
We have two opportunities for you to meet up & learn more at the KAS Annual Meeting!
1. We'll have a meetup Friday evening Nov 1 at KSU, at the end of the Networking Reception, for folks interested in Science Policy. You'll see an RSVP on your registration form
2. We're offering a Scientists' Tour of the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort on Saturday morning Nov 2.  You'll see an RSVP for that on your registration form too.

Our monthly Science Policy team meetings are second Wednesdays at 12:30ET. Email me if you'd like to join, or if you're interested but that time doesn't work for you-- policy@kyscience.org
